LittleBAR, PIFA and Chris’ Jazz Cafe

Flickr Friday: Josh Lawrence, Jazz and Miles Davis by Anthony Dean

It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post so I thought I’d jump back into it with some upcoming news. But first… thanks to everyone who came out for the PIFA Jazz Appreciation concert at the Kimmel Center. We had a fun time and the band was kicking. Orrin, Mike, Mick and Micah – BAD! I will be rolling out some video next week so keep your eyes open.

The LittleBAR Music Series opens tonight with sets from the Greg Matthews Quartet and the Wade Dean Enspiration. LittleBAR is a new jazz venue in Philly spearheaded by Matthews and bassist Mike Boone. Ola and I visited the space a few weeks back for the Jam Session and had a great time. The room is HUGE and specifically geared towards listening to music. We’ll be there. Will you?

Tomorrow we’ll be catching up with my boy from the BK Ezra Brown. He’ll be blowing his sax with Blitz the Ambassador at the PIFA Street Fair which should also be pretty cool. There are lots of events happening on the Avenue of the Arts so make sure to visit and maybe you’ll run into us.

Or… you could just swing by Chris’ Jazz Cafe around 11 PM. I’ll be playing with the Charles Lane Quintet for Grover Washington tribute night. MISTER MAGIC!

So that’s the short of it. Until the next time – Keep it Funky!
